Small and Green

A Japanese invention proves once and for all that good things do come in small packages … and spaces. Japanese homebuilding firm Daiwa House Industry has developed Agri-Cube, a unit that fits inside a standard parking space and can produce 10,000 vegetable a year!

Fluorescent lighting, temperature, fertiliser and drainage can be managed within the cube to produce up to 23 varieties of green leafy vege which grow on stacked shelves inside the unit. Its small footprint makes it suitable for city restaurants, hotels and grocers.
